Self Servicing
It is possible for the customer to service
their Timebeam Projecting Clock themselves, by following our simple step-by-step
guides:
Please note that there are no user (or By

the case of the Microsweep, Maxisweep or Maxi-Ceiling -
the instructions for self-servicing below relate only to our previous range
of models: New
Classic; Classic Commercial; Semi-Recess; Powerhouse
and the Original Classic.
If you experience difficulties with any of our current range of projecting
clocks, please ensure:
- The bulb is in working order
- The battery is in working order
Mechanism removal and replacement
Removal of existing mechanism
- Locate mechanism in plastic dust cover projecting from side of body
- With
pliers, remove strain bush that secures curly cable
- Remove two screws (if
fitted)

- Slide dust cover* down
curly cable so that electrical connections are exposed
- Disconnect
wires from junction block
- Release screw on top surface of body (near
lens)
- Slide mechanism out of locating slots in body
N.B: On New Classic the dust cover
clips onto the body, to remove - squeeze in sides and pull off (some
force may be required).
Fitting new mechanism

up into position around mechanism
- Retain with two screws, taking care not to damage wires within*
- Fit strain bush (to secure curly cable where it enters dust cover) as
follows:
- Fit
to indentations in curly cable left from previous bush fitting
- Squeeze
in place with pliers
- Push time set knob through hole in dust cover firmly
onto shaft of motor
N.B: On New Classic the dustcover clips into position, align correctly
and firmly push on until 'click' is heard and cover is fully in position.
IMPORTANT: DO CHECK THAT BRASS GEARS ARE LYING PARALLEL AND
POSITION HAS NOT BEEN DISTORTED. YOU CAN GENTLY BEND
TOP GEAR ON SPINDLE SO THAT IT IS IN CORRECT POSITION TO OTHER GEARS, BUT
DO NOT ROTATE GEARS BY HAND.
N.B: Replacement mechanisms can be supplied by mail order,
please contact us. Old mechanisms should be returned to By Design.
